About Us

Strengthen the Church, Advance the Gospel

Alongside Ministries is an international fellowship of Christians working together to strengthen the Church and advance the Gospel worldwide. Our purpose is to encourage and empower Christian leaders and churches through an international network of prayer, partnership, and practical help.

Alongside Ministry team members Mark and Ruth Stoscher; Gail and Doni Lilo serving in Ersekë, Albania play a vital role in each summer’s Crossroads Christian Camp.

We form partnerships with those who invite us to ‘come over and help’, seeking to serve with creativity and humility. We pray and work with our partners to see churches established, growing and making disciples of Jesus Christ everywhere, bringing transformation to our broken world.

In tandem with a strong team of Albanian leaders, Crossroads Christian Camp welcomes each summer nearly 1,000 children and youth from all over Albania. (See “Albania,” and the Stoschers and Lilos on the left side of this front page).

What We Do

For over twenty years we have worked with churches and leaders who have sought our help in several countries in Europe and North America. We develop ministries wherever we have the resources and competencies to serve responsibly, as God calls us, and where the needs of Christian witness are not adequately served. Our priorities are to:

  • pray
We pray for and with everyone with whom we work, always seeking God’s wisdom and grace.
  • equip youth
We develop and lead ministries to evangelize, disciple and equip young people to serve Christ.
  • develop leaders
We sponsor conferences, consultations, and study programs for the development of Christian leaders.
  • send Alongsiders
We recruit, train, send and provide ongoing care for people called to serve as Alongsiders in cross-cultural ministry.
  • train short-term teams
We lead and prepare teams for short-term mission projects that add long-term positive value.
  • promote mission vision
We provide speakers, workshops, and materials to educate and build commitment to worldwide mission.
  • support strategic ministry development
We serve as an advocate for our international partners and collaborate to develop facilities, leadership, financial resources and accountability structures for Christian camps and study centers in regions where these strategic ministries are needed.

Stand firm in one spirit, working side-by-side for the faith of the Gospel – Philippians 1:27

Our Background

In 1978, Alongside Ministry was launched in Fresno, California, under the Missions ministry of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1983, the organization incorporated in Seattle, Washington, as a 501(c)(3) Christian ministry, having emerged from a short-term sending and receiving ministry to an international training and sending mission with long-term ‘Alongsiders’ serving in Europe, Great Britain, and North America.

Our mission is sustained by more than 100 churches and 3800 individuals who support missionaries working alongside Christian leaders and churches in Albania, Estonia, France, Germany, Scotland, and North America.

Statement of Faith

We believe in God: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19, II Cor. 13:14, John 20.21-13).

We believe the Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, to be the Word of God and His revelation for the salvation of humankind. God’s Word is His standard for personal and corporate life in the Body of Christ and is authoritative for the believer (II Tim. 3:16-17).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the visible expression of the invisible God (Col. 1:15). Christ, the eternal Son of God, became human (John 1:1-5). He died upon the cross to make atonement for our sin (John 1:29, Mark 10:45). He physically rose from the dead (I Cor. 15:3-7) and will return personally, bodily and visibly to set up His Kingdom and judge the world (I Thess. 4:13-18).

We believe that all people have sinned and come short of God’s glory (Rom. 3:23) and that Christ is the only means of reconciliation between the Holy God and a sinful person (Rom. 5:1, Col. 1:18-20).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the head of His Body, the Church (Eph. 5:23) and works through His Church for the reconciliation of the whole world (I Cor. 12:25-27, II Cor. 5:18-20).

We believe that God promises a new heart and can make a person new (Ez. 36:26-27, II Cor. 5:17). This comes through repentance for sin and reliance upon Christ as Savior and Lord (Rom. 10:9-11).

We believe and affirm both the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds.
