Ministry Opportunities in Scotland

Consider serving alongside a Church of Scotland congregation that has a strong ministry vision and needs help to make their vision a reality.

In these congregations, an Alongsider can help develop and strengthen ministry relationships between the church and its immediate community. You could help one of these churches discern how to build on such opportunities to advance the Gospel. These roles require experimentation, initiative and commitment to building up the local church.

Depending on the strengths and experience of the applicant, the scope of these positions can be adapted to a more specific focus - youth work, for example - or a wider focus on pastoral responsibilities.

For example:

Whiteinch Church of Scotland is a church planting church which is seeking to create a training base to enable and empower people to create new and fresh expressions of church.

Whiteinch is looking for the help of experienced administrators, adult educators or PR/Marketing/fundraisers to help facilitate this vision. For more information specifically about Whiteinch, visit www.whiteinchchurch.org.

• Cowie and Plean linked with Fallin Churches of Scotland (near Stirling) are three connected congregations who want to advance the Gospel in their communities. These churches are currently engaging in outreach to children, youth, and families and need help to improve and expand their efforts. This opportunity requires a person or couple with significant ministry experience who can initiate with sensitivity and celebrate every small step forward. These congregations serve villages with many challenges and many opportunities to demonstrate Christ’s love.

• There are also ministry opportunities beyond the Church of Scotland, for example:

Aberdeen Christian Fellowship is a Baptist congregation near the city center of Aberdeen working to advance the Gospel in its neighborhood. There are exceptional opportunities to reach out to professionals in nearby offices, youth in the local secondary school, as well as families and university students living nearby. ACF would benefit from a few more hands to help them fulfill their vision and deal with their growing congregation!

This opportunity would be especially suited for someone interested in a 1 year commitment to help develop outreach into the local professional work force and build up ministries to and for men. Opportunities also exist to help with ministries to families and youth. You can learn more about Aberdeen Christian Fellowship at www.aberdeencf.com.

There are several different opportunities available. Please contact Alongside to learn more!
