SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY
Reims is a university city of 200,000 inhabitants, only 45 minutes from Paris. The parish has 700 families on its rolls, an increasing number of youth and children and regular attendance on Sundays of 100-120 people. The parish offers numerous group activities for all ages including Christian instruction, Bible study groups, neighborhood groups, and the Alpha Course.
The Parish Assistant is a part-time student position to help the two pastors in areas which depend in part on the needs, and in part on the gifts of the individuals. The candidate will register for language studies at the University of Reims.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – This person will…
Work within the church’s structure, values and pattern of ministry.
Engage in a coordinated way with the pastor and the lay leaders within the wider evangelistic and outreach ministry of the church.
Work in a close tandem with the pastor to provide support to the youth and children’s activities.
Prepare for special evenings (food, arranging the rooms, etc.)
Do basic secretarial work; publication of the parish bulletin.
Take responsibility for his/her spiritual development by participating in and praying for the life of the church.
QUALIFICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS – This person must…
Demonstrate a passion and a giftedness to work with youth and children.
Exhibit a spiritual maturity as well as a desire to be trained in cross-cultural ministry.
Be able to take personal initiative in assigned areas of youth ministry as well as work under the leadership of a team of local leaders.
Be committed to the local church, ready to share his/ her faith.
Be over 20 years of age. Some French language is preferred.
FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Alongside Ministries International is supported through the faithful giving of friends and partners in Europe and the US. Personal fundraising for this position will be required, in addition to housing and a monthly allowance which are provided. Administrative and communications support is also provided to this position to assist with personal support network.
