Scotland
Friends from Scotland were among the first to envision a cooperative venture, which became Alongside Ministries International, Also, it brings Scots and Americans together in both countries to build up the Church by creatively engaging in evangelism, pastoral care and Christian leadership training.
The Church in Scotland faces many challenges. Traditional Church of Scotland parish churches struggle to maintain their existence and effectively reach out to the communities they exist to serve. Few Scots perceive the Church to be a relevant to their lives or society. Yet God is still at work in Scotland, and the Church continues to proclaim the Gospel.
There are many ways to serve alongside the Church in Scotland. Churches, which invite Alongsiders, need the help of mature, sensitive, and patient Christian servants to help make the Church's vision a reality. Most opportunities are with the Church of Scotland. Opportunities range from urban New Charge Developments to historic rural villages.
