Europe: Part of the World God Loves

We live in a complex, interconnected world of great contrasts. The material abundance enjoyed by many people stands in stark contrast to miserable poverty suffered by many more. Human technological genius provides many benefits, but cannot meet the timeless need of every person for dignity and significance. Cultural diversity and the globalization of economic markets results in social dislocation and international conflict. Such a world causes many people to feel nullified and powerless to make a positive difference.

Modern Europe intensifies and magnifies these tensions and conflicts. Once the homeland of a dominant Church, Europe is now described by many as "post-Christian" and is among the most challenging of mission fields for the Gospel in the world.

Jesus Christ taught that every person is unique and precious to God. He forgives our sin and empowers us by his Spirit to bring the love of God to others. The difference that Christ makes in people, one by one, is
the hope for the redemption of the world, and Europe is no exception.

Alongside connects people of different cultures so they can help each other minister more effectively. Intercultural partnership creates a synergy that dignifies partners in their respective differences, unites them in one purpose, and empowers them to incarnate the reconciling power of the Gospel.

In a world that is depersonalizing and overwhelming, Alongside responds to those who say, “Come over and help us!”

Alongside Ministries began as a partnership of friendship between European and American believers. Our primary focus continues to be to strengthen the church and advance the Gospel in the diverse countries, cultures and contexts that make up contemporary Europe.
