Here’s a brief geography lesson for those interested: The United Kingdom is made up of the countries of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy. Queen Elizabeth II of England (Elizabeth I of Scotland) is the present monarch. The united parliament meets in London, at Westminster. Scotland’s national parliament meets in Edinburgh. We currently live and work in Aberdeen, in the northeast of Scotland. Aberdeen is the ‘oil capitol’ of the United Kingdom, and Britain’s North Sea oil platforms are managed and serviced through Aberdeen and its busy harbor. |
