Have you heard the one about a Scottish Presbyterian, a French Reformed minister and California Pastor?

Our roots date back to the 1960s and 1970s when Christians from different cultures began to get to know each other. Bonds of friendship and prayer grew and trust was built. Churches in all three cultures sent and received young people as ministry interns. A growing passion for the renewal of the Church in western cultures became the foundation of Alongside Ministries’ vision.

In 1978, Alongside Ministry was launched in Fresno, California, under the Missions ministry of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1983, the organization incorporated in Seattle, Washington, as a 501(c)(3) Christian ministry, having emerged from a short-term sending and receiving ministry to an international training and sending mission with long-term “Alongsiders’ serving in Europe, Great Britain, and North America.

Our mission is sustained by more than 100 churches and 3800 individuals who support missionaries working alongside Christian leaders and churches in Albania, Estonia, France, Germany, Scotland, and North America.
